POPEL COUMOU

Artist and photographer Popel Coumou plays in her work with the main elements of photography: light, paper and perception of reality.  Always in search for the essence of our surrounding he; creating new content by stripping bare the forms and letting light and shadow build the composition. The process begins with creating environments out of small-scale sets from collaged paper and clay. With the inherent nature of the materials being used, Popel can carefully light her collages and small scale sets and manages to give the paper relief and sets a third dimension. Bringing the flat and small surfaces to life, and transforming them into monumental images. It is as much a moment in time as it is a study of light.
