WILMA KUIL

Wilma Kuil’s visual curiosity is a quest for images that have always existed in her mind’s eye. She looks to the past, not out of a nostalgic longing for childhood, but to get a grasp on these visual recollections. Working like an archeologist, she investigates the subtle characteristics of memories; moments, fragrances, colors and events. She preferably works with textiles, digital and handmade appliques. In a pile of patches with designs she conjures up a picture by flipping it out, which is often inspired by Dutch still lifes.
